A long sofa in the color of hard-washed jeans. If all the residents were to sit down, it would make a perfect picture of a share house.

The hammocks suspended from the beams are extremely comfortable. The hammock fits your body as if it were wrapped around you, and it seems as if you will fall asleep.

From the living room you can move to the terrace on the back side of the property.

With the exception of the public spaces, which are grouped together, the other spaces are the rooms and the water facilities on each floor.

You can go outside at the end of the street.

The skylight in the back is a light feeder to the living space.

Next, let’s take a look at the rooms and the water area. 

A sound system for playing music has been set up for use. The photos on the wall match the mood perfectly here.

There is even a record player, which is rare to find in Japan. Music lovers will go crazy for this set up.

Here is the main attractions, an ice cream maker and coffee machine. With these devices you have everything you need for a cafe.

Catch your breath sitting at the counter as you gaze out at the terrace.

The terrace is wide and spacious. Being able to chat with your friends out here on a sunny day is like a dream.

「KOKUBUNJI CAFE」is written on the deck. You might start believing that this is a genuine cafe when you see it.

The kitchen is in the same Western design as the living room. The wooden accents, shaped faucets and shelving create a unique atmosphere.

There is space for every resident to store their cooking ingredients. No need to worry about other people using something that’s not theirs.

The entrance is a spacious design evoking the warmth of nature.

To the left of the entrance are mailboxes for each resident and a parcel delivery box.

Beside the mailboxes is a smoking area, the only place in the house residents can smoke cigarettes.

At the entrance to the lounge hangs a ‘share map’, something found in all Share Place Series houses. Residents are free to share their favourite shops and restaurants with everyone.

Tables of all sizes furnish the spacious area lit up by sunlight.

Imagine living here, some days crowded around the large table with many friends, and others sitting by yourself enjoying a coffee as you read a book.

Also, there is a nice, comfortable sofa to sit back and relax in at the back of the lounge.

The best thing about a large-scale sharehouse is being able to find the perfect place inside for any situation.

This sofa in particular is so comfortable it might be fought over on the weekend.

With the coming of spring it will be easy to nod off to sleep underneath the warmth of the sun as you stare out the window.

At the very back of the lounge is an area where you can relax barefoot. No one will complain if you stretch out and lie down here.

This owl ornament watches over the residents and fits in perfectly with the natural-style interior.

Microwaves, toasters and rice cookers line the front wall.

There is a mini kitchen across from the main kitchen.

There are also storage cubbies for each resident for keeping things like salt and other seasonings.

There is also a terrace on the second floor.

The view is great with the terrace overlooking a small hill.

You’ll need time to rediscover yourself on the spacious, beautifully maintained park-like grounds.

Heading back to the house, there is a theatre room opposite the lounge.

Watching movies projected onto a pure white wall you’ll feel like you’ve come to the cinemas. Living in the area that inspired Whisper of the Heart, it might be an idea to watch it over again.

As there are many students living in the area the house provides a study room, the perfect thing to remind you not to neglect your studies when you’re having too much fun everyday.

Rooms come furnished with a desk and chair, bed and mini refrigerator.

Each room comes with a balcony making hanging washing out to dry no problem.

Wall colors differ from room to room, so make sure to check that out too.

The bathrooms are coin-operated. After putting in a coin hot water will run for the amount of time displayed.

The owner likes it so much he calls himself a Route 66-specialist cameraman.

The owner has an interest in cars and loves classics in particular, having around 10 cars in his possession (Incidentally he is the current president of the Automobile Club Japan)

The rust on the mailbox outside adds character.

Everything about the interior is fascinating.

All of these items were collected and selected for the house specifically by the owner. I’m not sure how much all of this cost, but there must surely be a few very expensive things here.

Not just a fan of antiques but music also, the owner has collected a vast array of CDs. Residents are free to listen to them as they please.

This is the kitchen with its counter, the perfect backdrop for beer or coffee.

With plenty of facilities and appliances you will find yourself enjoying cooking in here.

Here lives the coffee maker and other unique kitchen items all lined up in a row.

A small relaxation area has been set up on the 2nd floor.

The dining room has a high ceiling, and this is the view from above. It looks and feels so spacious from up here.

You can catch a glimpse of this flamingo in the small garden outside.

Each piece of furniture adds a nice touch to the interior.

There is even a communal computer. There is of course also a Wi-Fi connection.

From this angle it is apparent how big the sofa actually is.

Here is the kitchen area.

There are induction cooktops and an electric kettle.

Here is the living room looking in from the side. Being such a large space, the more people there are the more fun you’ll have.

Here is the female showers. The bright, tropical-style curtains are quite impressive.

In addition to the shower there is also a washing machine.

Stylish mirrors hang behind the basins in the female toilets.

The male toilets are reminiscent of school toilets.

As you can see the toilets are also decorated with artwork.

Seeing art even in places like this really brings out the manager’s eye for detail. Incidentally, this is all done not by renovation specialists but by the management team themselves.

This is the storage area, which is quite a lot of space for a room in a sharehouse.

Rooms also come with a desk so you can immerse yourself in your work or in reading a book.

This is a corner room and as such is very bright and cheerful.

This fun little addition can be found beside the staircase leading to the second floor.

The room from above.

Pebbles arranged in the shape of a court can be found above the front entrance. Balls of various shapes and sizes found all around the house will encourage you to get up on your feet and move your body outside.

You can even play games and get your body moving at the same time with Wii Sports.

Start off with table tennis then move onto billiards… You could spend the entire day in here by utilizing all of the equipment.

Then, after playing around for a while…

You can get right back to work in the workspace area also provided.

You can also do arts and crafts in here.

The room is quite large, and even though it is essentially a workspace area you could even hold strategy meetings before a big game in here.

Let’s move onto the kitchen.

Living with many people means there is a row of rice cookers lined up on the shelf for use. There are also toaster ovens so you can pretty much try out any recipe you please.

Stickers in the drawers remind you where everything belongs. This is another one of the manager’s touches of consideration.

There is a smoking area outside for those who smoke.。

This photo was taken on a rainy day but you can really appreciate the size of the court when you’re out there standing on it.

Events are also held every now and again. The community aspect of the house is great.

The kitchen is also quite spacious, perfect for cooking alone or in groups.

There are induction stove tops so cleanup is a breeze.

These shelves in the living room are for tenants to store anything they please. A lot of them keep their condiments and spices here.

The lounge. It’s a space where you can work and with a computer and copier also provided you can do all of your business here.

The view seen from this large window is like none other. Even if you’re not using the space to work you can relax and enjoy the view from further away.

This is the theater room in the basement. Stretch out your legs and relax while watching a movie on these chairs to fully enjoy this room.

This is a fully sound-proofed room so you can beat on those electric drums to your heart’s content, an irresistible option for those music lovers out there.

This is Momihira, where the masseuse among the tenants provides cheap massages for Comfort Machida Kurihira housemates. The masseuse apparently has many repeat customers.

Get a massage right here in the basement. It’s almost like a dream to come home to a massage after a hard day’s work.

Room 125 is unified by a purple-colored theme with an adult touch to it.

The desk is a chic black and being quite spacious you’ll have no trouble working here.

The large closet looks big enough to hang up your coats. There is also a mirror, convenient for that one last touch up before heading out.
