The Tokyu Dentetsu Corporation has announced plans to open their ‘Raising Children Together’ sharehouse (temporary name) in Daikanyama in March, 2014 under the concept of supporting child rearing.

The property is owned by the ward of Shibuya and is a sharehouse renovated from a building on the land of a staff member, a 2-minute walk from Daikanyama station on the Toyoko line and an 11-minute walk from Ebisu station on the JR Yamanote and Tokyo Metro Hibiya lines.

There are plans to introduce various equipment and facilities for the house to be a place where people can raise their children together while working, such as a graffiti board in the living room to stimulate children’s creativity, a wooden deck and kitchen garden on the rooftop and an area for the children to play around barefoot.

It’s great to see more and more environments in which single mothers can support each other and enjoy raising their children while making it easy to continue working. There is also a wooden deck and kitchen garden on the rooftop and areas for the children to play and communicate with each other. I’m really glad that such places are gaining popularity.
